Draft Motion for Local Councils to Oppose the Anti-Refugee Bill

As part of campaigning efforts to oppose the cruel and divisive anti-refugee bill, we’re calling on local councils to voice their concerns about the proposals in the bill.

Local motions are an effective way of putting these concerns on the public record and Asylum Matters has produced a template motion which local authorities can adapt to express their concerns and call on the UK Government to throw out the Nationality and Borders Bill and work with local communities to build a fairer and more effective asylum system. We hope to see local authorities from across the UK passing motions to demonstrate to the Government that the policies contained in the Bill don’t reflect the culture of welcome in our local communities.

You can view our local lobbying kit here with more information on how to lobby local leaders to take action against the anti-refugee bill.
