Asylum Matters and NACCOM have launched a new briefing ‘Principles for Asylum Dispersal’.
In April 2022 the Home Office announced the new policy of ‘Full Dispersal’ where all local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales were informed they would house people seeking asylum and become dispersal areas.
We believe people seeking asylum should be welcomed and housed in communities not camps. This briefing is aimed at voluntary sector organisations that are interested in working with their local authorities and other partners to improve asylum dispersal in their local area, whether they are newly welcoming asylum seekers or are well established.
The briefing includes:
- A series of principles to set in place to ensure a good dispersal area
- Case studies of successful partnerships between local authorities and voluntary sector organisations
- Refugee Action’s newly published ‘Asylum Accommodation Principles: What Should a Home Have?’.
The briefing is also relevant for government, statutory, and non-statutory support services that are interested and/or involved in asylum dispersal.
