Asylum Matters becomes an independent charity on 1 March 2021, following the agreement between Asylum Matters and City of Sanctuary last year.
As we start life as a new organisation, our sincere thanks go to everyone at City of Sanctuary which hosted Asylum Matters since its inception in early 2017. The two organisations will continue to work closely together; and you can read the joint statement from Asylum Matters and City of Sanctuary here.
We wish to reassure all our partners that while our legal status has changed, our approach has not. At a time when many people seeking asylum are experiencing greater hostility, anxiety and hardship than at any point in recent memory, we remain firmly focused on working collaboratively to tackle injustice and bring about change.
We are excited to continue our work with local and national partner organisations, community groups and refugees and people seeking asylum themselves; and are fully committed to our shared efforts to improve the lives of refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK.
