Ayad

Ayad joined Asylum Matters’ Advisory Group in May 2018 but has been campaigning with us for a number of years. After being granted refugee status in 2016, he provided testimony to the APPG on Refugees on the challenges faced by new refugees in the ‘move on’ period which helped to ensure an evidence-based debate and scrutiny of Government policy. Ayad is an active member of a number of refugee and asylum organisations, both locally where he is based, and nationally. He has volunteered with the local Citizens Advice Bureau in the Refugees and Asylum Seekers team and is a board member of Diverse City and Restoke. Before he came to the UK, his background was in corporate governance and administration in addition to QHSE (Quality, Health and Safety, and Environment) and he worked as an interpreter in several countries in the Middle East.
